Tournament Rules

16 minute halves

 

Ten- (10) minute warm-up time between games and ten (10) minute halftime.

 

Four (4) full timeouts per game, and two (2) 30 second timeouts per game.   The coach or players may call timeouts.

 

Overtime periods will be five (5) minutes for ages 11&U thru 18&U -.   There will be one minute between each overtime period.

 

One (1) extra full timeout per overtime period.

 

Technical fouls count as personal fouls.   Seven (7) fouls start the bonus.   Two (2) foul shots will be awarded on the tenth team foul.

 

Resetting the shot clock:

            -Change of possession

            -Foul

            -Shot hits the rim

            -Kicked Ball-reset to 15 seconds if less than 15 seconds otherwise no reset.

 

 

The clock will be stopped after made baskets in the last minute of the second half and of any overtime period.  

   

 

Fifteen (15) minute grace period for your first game of the tournament only.

 

Ten (10) minute grace period for the first game of the day.

 

 

Tie Breaker System:

 

            A.   In the event of a two way tie - Head-to-head competition.

B. In the event of a three-way tie, score differential will determine placement.   If there is a tie based on point differential (+13,-13 maximum), it will be decided on the court with a five minute shootout.   If a three-way tie, one team will draw a bye and play the winner of the first round immediately following the first game in another five-minute shootout.

 

Any disputes will be settled by the officials as long as they are within the rules of the tournament.   If there is a deviation from the tournament rules, the Site Director and/or Tournament Director can overrule the officials.

 

Georgia AAU Rules!!! Rules have been passed which are tied to the score margin, shown in the table below:

- New Rule 1: No Back-Court pressure (8U thru 14&U Only) - Once the above margin is reached, and for as long as it remains, there shall be no back-court pressure by the winning team.   A violation shall result in one verbal warning to the player and the Coach, and ball out of bounds to the team behind.   The second and all following violations shall result in two (2) technical free throws and possession awarded to team behind.      

 

- New Rule 2: Conditions for Running Clock - If the margin at half-time or beyond is reached, then a running clock WILL BE implemented (coaches consent is NOT required).   If the margin drops below 20 POINTS, a regular stop clock will be implemented until the required margin is reached again

 

 

 

 

Gate Admission                      Gate Fee: Adults $ 5 per game (students $3) or a $ 7 day pass (students $3) on Saturday anf a fllat $ 6 on Sunday. Children under 8 are free.

RULES OF PLAY:               All games will follow the AAU Girls’ Basketball Handbook (NCAA).

 

PLAYER ROSTER:                         Rosters must be submitted to Host’s before playing first game.

 

AAU MEMBERSHIP/          All players must show their current AAU membership card and a copy of a legal

BIRTH   CERTIFICATES:   BIRTH CERTIFICATE to the designated person at the tournament and paperwork for grade exceptions.

Sportsmanship and good behavior are expected by all players. Coaches, Players and Parents are all required to follow the Ga. AAU Code of Conduct. Teams are responsible for their fans. Gym directors will have troublesome parents ejected from the gym and a parent’s failure to leave as directed may cause a forfeiture. This is an Invitational tournament dedicated to an enjoyable weekend of basketball and proper behavior by all players, coaches and parents is required.  

   

Do not bring coolers into gyms. This will not be allowed. Each team is required to clean up their bench after each game.
